Today we had a big day as a parish family! We celebrated 10:00 Mass at the Diocesan Center, then had a potluck brunch where there were smiles everywhere.
We gathered on a cold and snowy grey morning, but once inside, there were friends greeting each other warmly. Our New Life Choir sounded grand.
Fr. Konopa’s homily was full of insights and humor. He traced a path through the scriptures and church history to our celebration here, as a parish observing the 50th anniversary of Mary being affirmed as the Mother of the Church. She is our model of discipleship, reflecting the Light of Christ.
Many of us have fond memories of worship in Christ the King Chapel. We’ll be back there soon as MMOC is set to record two televised Masses in early December.
After Mass it was time to name our Woman of the Year and Man of the Year. LuAnn Miller serves in fifty ways, not least the ministry of boundless good cheer.
The Man of the Year is Deacon Richard Sage. Fr. Konopa also announced that Dn. Sage would chair a new commission of 21 people charged with finding our way forward regarding our buildings.
All around there were longtime friends glad to greet each other, a warm sense of parish as family. Thanks to our host Linda Gillette and all who made this event happen.
